Moderating Newsgroups

Hello Roy, Carmine here

Interesting. I subscribed to this and the a.p.nlp newsgroups in June of 95. Since then I have posted some three hundred + articles. Some of those articles were designed to share hypnotic process as per my own personal style. Some were posted to share personal opinion, while other articles I shared represented impatience on my part and even heated debate. I have even posted to the effect that some only use these newsgroups as sounding board for their own commercial ambitions, again my own opinion as to what I consider appropriate material for this forum.

Roy, I have the greatest respect for you, even if I disagree with you from time to time. And this is one of those times when I am in disagreement with you. Sure, I am not one who prefers sorting through one advertisement after another. Nor do I always enjoy having to take the extra time to discover who is here to add quality info and much needed debate (again what I perceive as quality) and who is here only to make a buck. But for me the bottom line is this. . . . . .

I would rather go through 1000 annoying advertisements rather than limit in any way anyone's freedom to use this forum as they see fit - even if, NO! especially if I don't like the way they are using that freedom. Just because I think there may be a proper use for newsgroups doesn't make what I think the only way to think - and definitely not the right way to think.

As an example, and in my opinion, *name deleted* has been using this and the a.p.NLP newsgroups for the primary purpose of selling his products. A position I disagree with very strongly. Yet, and at the same time, I would never want to see that freedom taken from him. Nor would I want anyone to take from me the freedom to express my own opinion as to how I feel about what *name deleted* is doing here.

So, in disagreeing with you, I say that everybody should be able to post whatever they want to post in this forum. I am for less government and less imposed control, period! Let 'em post what they want, and if I don't like it, and choose to respond, I will post what I want. Again, even though I disagree with the type of control you would like to see imposed here, I still feel that you have every right to your opinion.

Be well and take care

Carmine
