What "Can't" be Done
I don't know if everyone is now using their brains to learn as
quickly as you are now learning, but I do know that everyone can.
That is if they can get over their education, the things they
think they know.
Jackie, I once posted this long post where I gave examples of
how long it took me to go from not knowing about something to
being able to skillfully do that something. Things like how I
went from not knowing much about aviation to getting a pilot's
license in seven days. I talked about getting my first class FCC
ticket. I made a decision on a Monday, with zero knowledge or
experience on what I needed to know to pass the test, and on
Thursday I had the ticket in my hand. When I was nineteen I
decided to open a television/VCR service center. At the time all
I knew about televisions was how to turn them on. It took me one
week to go from an idea to having the store open for business.
Two weeks later I was running an authorized Sony service center.
I ran the business for about six months and sold it for a nice
profit. I talked about working as an field engineer in the area
of RF communication. About how at twenty years of age I went from
zero knowledge and skill, and in less than thirty days was handed
the responsibility for maintaining and upgrading the entire
communications network for Broward County, Florida. At the time
that grid consisted of every municipality in the Fort Lauderdale,
Pompano, and Hollywood areas.
The discussion I posted this information to had to do with
learning. I had said that I can watch someone do something one
time, ask a few questions, and within a couple of days I would be
able to mirror the task. And in most cases I would be able to
outperform the person I had modeled in that task.
When I posted this information I was merely offering examples
of how I was able to use what I know to effectively learn
anything that I wanted to learn very quickly. What I found
interesting at the time were the responses that were generated by
what I had posted, and there were quite a few. One women actually
attacked me as a pompous, egotistical ass. All I was doing was
sharing some of my experiences inside of the topic of learning.
Then there were them who responded telling me that what I was
saying couldn't be done. And I had already done it, time and time
again.
Then there were those who tried to tell me that even if I was
learning things as fast I said I was, the quality of what I was
learning had to suffer as I wasn't giving the information enough
time to sink in. Think about it. Here I was saying "Look,
listen, here are some examples of what can be done when you learn
how to learn the way I have learned to learn." That for me,
NLP/DHE(TM) are level three learning methodologies that allow me
to learn new ways of learning on a continuing basis. Sure, the
therapeutic applications are there, but that doesn't even begin
to sell, there are enough people out there who want what you are
selling - go and find them. This way you can accomplish what you
want to accomplish, and you never have to convince anybody of
anything. I have never convinced anyone to take any of my
trainings. Whether the trainings were on photoreading, hypnosis,
NLP, non-verbal communication, the art of metaphor, I didn't set
out to convince. There are enough people out there who can see
and are willing to grasp an opportunity.
As for the future, I will regress to much more useful
understandings, unlike anybody who wants to argue with me about
what I can already do, and the possibilities of what I think we
have yet to be able to do. All of this without first trying it
on. Well, in my old vocabulary I would have simply called them
assholes. May not be the most sophisticated and eloquent term,
but it works for me. I know, NLP teaches us that people are
always doing the best they can. But I don't think that
presupposition was designed to be used as an excuse to continue
doing it. And if so, when I say these are assholes, I can also
say, "But I was doing the best that I could do."
Keep on keep'n on
Carmine
Oh! BTW, I was thinking, since I can do all of these really
neat things that I have learned how to do, the things that people
say that I can't do. Well, since they say I can't and I really
can, I can use them and they will never see it coming.
Hmmmmmmmm...now that's an idea!
