Nonverbal Communication 1
Hey Quent,
This is one subject that really excites me. Not because I have
been exposed to all of the heavy sex and violence on the
Discovery Channel. Have you ever watched some of the animal shows
on the Discovery Channel? Shows like Fangs, were they present you
with an hour of gut-wrenching, blood-squirting violence. It's an
educational show, sort of like the evening news. Children love
it!
Then there are the shows that are designed to depict the
mating habits that exist in the wild. I have watched everything
from kangaroos to lions engage in natural, wild, unadulterated
sex. This is another one of those educational shows that children
also love. Hmmmm, how is it these shows bypass the rating system
here in the states?
Well, anyway I did say that this is a subject that excites me.
And having placed some of the obvious reasons on the side, let me
continue here.
As a trainer, one of my interests has been in developing the
ability to install information, and processes designed to
usefully sort that information, at a deeper, more unconscious
level. I looked for models of where this was already being done,
but kept coming up short. I asked myself, as a basis, what would
have to be there, what would the primary elements be? The answer
that I came up with was mastery of the use of nonverbal
communication. With that in mind I began sorting differently for
a model, and found one.
When I was younger I often found myself being fascinated with
how well some the animals who traveled with the circus's were
able to understand their trainers. Also, I had a friend who
trained attack dogs. He would often train the one that he
considered the brightest, and that dog would help in training the
others. What I found in common with my friend who trained the
dogs, and animal trainers who worked with the animals in the
circus, was their ability to use non-verbally coded methods of
communication.
So, and to shorten this a bit, I went out and found a gifted
animal trainer who agreed to let me model what he did, and how he
did it. I learned so very much from this experience, that I can
actually hypnotize just about any animal, including the human
type -- non-verbally. And when I am in front of a room in the
process of training, I can actually cycle through many of the
states from some of the different animals I have modeled using
these skills.
When I want to build in trust, I may quickly cycle through the
nonverbal elements of a wolf in a submissive posture. Or, if I
want to drive home a point that I think is important, I may
quickly cycle through a state the wild dogs from Africa use when
signaling their young to pay attention.
Obviously, there is more to all of this than could meet the
eye. Also, this is not the appropriate forum for teaching these
skills. But I will say these skills are very effective for
bypassing conscious awareness while getting the desired response.
They also make great anchors for setting up and closing loops.
Enough for now, going to watch another not-rated-X sex show on
the Discovery Channel. This one is about how many times, in one
day, the lion mates.
Be well
