In this case, I  couldn't agree with Phil more. There are times when all matter of concise, well though, and sincerely earnest contributions are completely disregarded for the sake of some perverse, and often mindless exposition. I follow this newsgroup closely for the informative contributions of the few, and give careful consideration to the behaviors of the rest.

Picture this: You walk up to some man and say "hello." He in response hits you with a baseball bat. Then, you get up, go inside and say, that was not what I intended as a response to my communication, and you adjust your behavior, walk up to that person, and instead say--"I am sorry that I didn't get my point across", and say instead, "good afternoon." This time, not only does he hit you with a baseball bat, but he also kicks you a few times while you are down. Then, relying strongly on the presupposition, you give it a third try, and as you are on you way to the emergency room wondering what went wrong.......

There are times when it is simply necessary to do something else. The presuppositions of NLP are a useful way of seeing the world, and not the world itself. Flexibility begs that you have it your own behavior to try something else. Even if that something else is pacing the world model of some other......

.....where you get up from the ground after getting hit with the bat the first time, and either get the hell out of there, or you turn around and kick this guys ass. Or anything in-between. The NLP presups are not about limiting behavior. Perhaps the guy with the baseball bat simply enjoys hitting people with his bat. And no matter of kindness, intelligent conversation, or all of the kings horses may ever make any difference at all. And even if by some small miracle it could, at what cost to self?
